CONCORDE

Decap Dance organ with style !

The firm of Frans Decap of Herentals were well known for adverturous designs of organs and experimental tone structures.

Well known organs from F Decap of Herentals were the X series of 1967.The X100 had 80 keys and one accordion as did the X300 which had two accordions. Of the X500 series, just two were built, for the Dancing 'De Kaasboerin' at Postel and the Dancing 'Robin Hood' at Zandhoven.

These organs originally had 106 keys and four accordions from the Italian maker 'La Pietanesi'. Both organs later went to Holland, the former to Rein van den Broek, jnr of Oosterhout and was rented out under the name 'Concorde'. The second was destroyed in a fire in a cafe at Schijndel.

The Concorde was converted to play from the standard 105 key Decap scale and it was in this format that this photo was taken. (From an article by Jack Jacobs in the KDV magazine 'Het Pierement' in 2006 )

The organ was later reduced again in size and the pipework removed along with two of the accordions. These accordions, by La Piatenesi have a softer tone than the usual Crucianelli accordions.

After the organ was no longer required, it was put into store . A few years ago it was offered for sale and brought to the UK and rebuilt. After numerous repairs it is now playing once again.

The organ is not usually available for hire and forms part of the static collection, although a longer term hire in a fixed location could be arranged.
