The Albert Dance Band Organ

As the name suggests, the Albert Dance Band organ was built by the late Albert Decap in the 1970s. Somewhere in

it's history it acquired a front from a Decap Herentals organ and was mounted on a trailer so that it could attend

outside events.

When it was imported from Holland a few years ago there were problems with the electrical system. Though the

organ played from cardboard music books, the keyframe had electrical not pneumatic switching and some rather

ham-fisted repairs had been made. we managed to get the organ playing as it should, but since then the system

has become increasingly erratic and a couple of years ago the organ was put into store awaiting further repairs.

It was recently decided that the system was beyond repair and that we should convert it to midi. The system was

devised by Stephen Simpson, with the work being carried out in the main by Norman Kendall. The midi circuitry

was supplied by John Wale ( J-Omega electronics).

The organ is now playing again and available for hire.
